Tranquility Farm Wedding

Congratulations to Kelsey and Michael!! We absolutely love working at Tranquility Farms in Purcellville. What a magical day to capture. This was one of several weddings we had last weekend, and each one was so special.

Small Winery Wedding

Another beautiful intimate Fall wedding last Saturday .. are you guys seeing a trend? A lot of our couples are choosing to get married this year, and celebrate with a larger crowd next year. Melissa and Patrick's small ceremony ended with an outdoor dinner amongst the grapevines at Morais Vineyard - add candlelight, plentiful local wine, and a warm breeze and talk about a perfect evening!

Reston VA Wedding

Awesome time celebrating with these two last weekend This Fall season has been so much fun so far and we've been blessed with the best clients, weather, and memories! Often times we get overwhelmed with workload during the busy season but we wouldn't trade it for anything.

DC Sunrise Engagement

Nothing like a DC sunrise on a perfect Fall morning! This was my second time working with Susie and Jimmy, the first was last month at their backyard civil ceremony. Then next year is their big celebration :) I love how their first outfit was super elegant, then their next was less formal but still very classy.

Middleburg Wedding

Hope & Moon These two are bubbly, hilarious, welcoming souls and we are so happy we met them. We felt more like guests at their small wedding on Saturday and we're not complaining. We love what we do!

Intimate Wedding Ceremony

Patty & Darryl got married over the weekend in Paris, Virginia with just 6 special guests. The weather could not have been more perfect! One bright side to this crazy year is that our client relationships are prolonged - come next year during their bigger wedding, these two will have worked with Compass Studios during three separate years.

Bluemont Engagement Session

Bluemont, Virginia is truly a beautiful place. Such a great time with the stunning Savannah and Jacob last week doing their engagement photos. Don't their outfits give you all the Fall vibes? We are so excited for their wedding next year!

Family of Four

So much fun at Friday's family session. I can't get over the cuteness of these two brothers!

Private Civil Ceremony

Everyone is adapting these days. One trend we are seeing is many brides having their small wedding this year and then saving their bigger celebration for next year. We think this is a fantastic idea. Sunday featured a small backyard civil ceremony with Susie and Jimmy. They only had three other family members there and it was such a special moment to witness. We are really looking forward to their larger wedding next year as well!

Christina & Nick's Golf Course Wedding

Congratulations to Christina & Nick! Yesterday they finally had their wedding after postponing several times. They celebrated with their closest loved ones and we're so glad the hurricane tapered off just in time.

Photographing a Photographer's Wedding

Ryan and I have been waiting for Gracie and Dan’s wedding for quite some time! Gracie is a very talented wedding photographer in the area and the fact that she ended up booking US is a huge honor. When we met her and Dan, we felt like old friends. Between rescheduling their wedding due to Covid, changing their reception venue, and missing many many loved ones at their wedding, they’d been through a lot but you would never guess. Their spirits were high the entire time leading up (and during) to their big day.

The wedding took place all around beautiful and quaint Aldie, Virginia at Gracie’s mother’s Bed & Breakfast, a family friend’s stunning private property for the ceremony, and lastly at her parent’s home for the reception. All locations were drop dead gorgeous. It was an extremely hot and humid day but it was unforgettable and full of so much joy. Our favorite part was that it was FRIENDS themed!! And cute donkeys of course.

6 Month Session

My sweet high school friend reached out to me for family photos with her “8 month old girl and rambunctious labradoodle”. Usually sessions like this are little tricky and hectic but we nailed the shot right at the beginning that Julia didn’t want to go home without! The family photo of the 4 of them looking at the camera. Once we got that, it was the perfect morale-boost for a successful rest of the shoot. Baby Leah was incredibly easy-going and photogenic. We met at 8am which was perfect before it got too hot, too. Algonkian Park is a great spot!

Cabell's Mill Engagement Session

I LOVE this location!! It’s a hidden gem and has so many cute backdrops to offer, all within easy walking distance of your car. Kathleen was my sweet childhood neighbor growing up and it was a pleasure reconnecting with her and meeting her incredibly kind finance, Tony. Can’t wait for their big day next September :)

Old Town Alexandria Engagement

Loved this session with Amanda, Chris, and Charlie! It was truly the perfect June evening, complete with both epic clouds and golden sunset. We can’t wait for their wedding next year.

Westfields Golf Club June Wedding

We are on cloud nine from Saturday's beautiful June wedding! Feeling grateful to be slowly getting back to work. Congratulations, Reniah and Patrick!

Covid Wedding

Instead of the 200-person wedding they were expecting, Cortlyn and Tyler had a 10-person wedding on Saturday. Although it's not the day they originally envisioned, it was just as meaningful. They live-streamed their small ceremony to everyone, and they even had friends & family cheer them from the parking lot upon exiting the church. Afterwards they held a small backyard gathering with catered Chipotle, and even still did their first dances.
It's hard to put into words how special it's been to capture these intimate weddings. During these uncertain and scary times, we still have love to count on. Ryan and I will be with our clients every step of the way in whatever direction they take their wedding plans.

Leesburg Elopement

Congratulations, Tara & Mike. These two said their I-Do's on Friday under a gazebo at Birkby House, Leesburg and we couldn't be happier for them. It was an emotional day and being your third wheel was a true honor. Can't wait to see you for the big celebration in October..but digging these micro-weddings as well!

Sky Meadow State Park Maternity Session

It feels great to slowly and safely get back out in the field. Madelyn and Daniel are some of our favorites, they were our wedding clients back in 2018. Then last year we captured their maternity announcement and this year we did their maternity photos! Madelyn is due any week now and it’s such an exciting time for them. With their extra quarantine free time they have been keeping busy with decorating the nursery and prepping for their baby boy.

Intimate Ceremony

Laura and Kyle didn’t let the Pandemic stop them from getting married on Friday April 24th. Although 4/24 was supposed to be THE big day celebrated with tons of friends and family at Evergreen Country Club, they were forced to reschedule like many others. While some of our clients are officially changing their wedding date to their new one, for other clients like Laure and Kyle, changing their original “wedding date” was not an option. So there we were on Friday, just four of us - me, Laura, Kyle, and their Pastor - and it was an incredibly special moment to witness. It was intimate, quiet, sweet, a little drizzly…unforgettable.

We can’t WAIT to be there on their official BIG day, but this small day meant the world to capture.

Winter Maternity Session

Agni & Jai, our June wedding clients, are having their baby girl any day now! We had a such a fun time together on Saturday at this bright & chilly winter session. Since I had never photographed in their neck of the woods, they even scouted out this beautiful location out for me!
