Winter Wedding

Our 2023 wedding season has started early and at full force! We have regular weddings happening in January and February - a little earlier than normal. Matt and Elena helped us kick off the New Year in such a great way. Their day was a typical chilly January day, so we loved utilizing the newly constructed greenhouse at Meadowlark for some shots to get a break from the cold. Probably our favorite part of their day was that the ceremony music was all The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Matt and Elena carefully selected each song depending on who was walking down the aisle, and it was a magical moment. Congratulations to these two, we hope they are enjoying sunny Hawaii on their honeymoon!

Reston Lakes

The Reston lakes hold a special place in our hearts - so I was excited to hear that they were also very special to this couple! When clients choose locations that are sentimental, it always makes for great photos. We also got there just before the Fall colors disappeared!

Classic DC Wedding

Erin and Matt’s wedding was so perfectly “DC”. Classic, timeless colors, a string quartet, and a first look on a quiet level of the National Portrait Gallery. Their getting-ready, ceremony, and reception took place at the beautiful Kimpton Monaco Hotel. We had above-average temperatures for a November wedding which made walking around the city quite pleasant. One of our favorite parts of the day was the father-daughter coordinated dance! Congratulations to these newlyweds!

Sky Meadows Engagment

Ali & Frankie suggested Sky Meadows State Park as their location and I approved! It’s a fantastic spot. Their session took place during peak foliage and even though very intense clouds covered the sky for our session, their bright personalities made for such a fun shoot together.

Fall Wedding at Marriott Ranch

Marriott Ranch is THE best. Rolling mountains, history, and such a great vibe all around. We loved being a part of Jen and Dustin’s day this weekend. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the Fall foliage was just starting to appear. Jen is another client of ours who requested a “warmer” edit in her photos and it really matches her color-scheme perfectly!

Kalero Vineyard Wedding

We have been nonstop with weddings lately..but that’s Fall for you! Getting married in Virginia in the Fall is unbeatable. Here are some highlights from Rachel and Charles’s wedding from this past Friday. It was a super fun day and don’t you love her cape veil??

Fall Wedding at Bluemont Vineyard

Bluemont Vineyard is one of our favorites… add perfect Fall weather + the cutest couple on top of it and you have a perfect day. Yesterday was full of laughs, donuts, wine, dancing, and happy tears and we are so incredibly happy for Rachel and Blake. We adore these two!

New Editing Style, Who Dis

When Angela (bride) hired us last year, she asked if we could edit her wedding photos to be warm/golden/vintage and we said: “absolutely!” Angela and Briar had their beautiful wedding at Murray Hill (shout out to the best venue) last weekend and their sneak peek photos are now ready. What do we think? I’m thinking of adding this warm editing style as an option to all clients! Inquire if you are a current bride with us and want to chat options.

Congratulations to Angela & Briar!

BEAUTIFUL associate shooting by one of our regulars, Melinda Toth Photography.

Baby Callyn

Lauren is a friend from High School and we’ve kept in touch over the years as we have made videos for her company, Potomac River Running!

She and her husband Sean just welcomed their baby girl into the world and it was one of the most effortless newborn sessions I’ve had. Somehow there was ZERO crying at any point, and their dog Abby posed perfectly for every shot! Very rare.

I told Lauren they should rent out their perfectly light & airy farmhouse to other photographers to use as a studio. It was a dream to photograph in and presented zero issues with lighting.

Congratulations to this sweet family in their next phase of life.

Adoption Profile Book

Well this was a unique request! When Olivia and Tony reached out and explained they needed help creating their adoption profile book, we were thrilled. What an important and exciting time in their lives, and it felt so great to help them prepare. The shoot lasted about 3 hours because we wanted to be thorough with all of the photo options that they will then send off to their book designer! Olivia and Tony did a great job planning out the activities and the locations for the shoot that would represent their life in an authentic way. My favorite part of the shoot was at the local movie theater where they had a custom sign made JUST for them and the shoot!!

We wish them the best of luck in their adoption journey.

Cake Smash

Is your baby turning one? I am HERE for the cake smash! It’s always a good time. Pro-tip: schedule these before the actual birthday so that you have all the adorable photos to share to the world by their real birthday.

Ida Lee Engagment Session

Patrick and Ari were a bundle of joy on Friday. It was a little hot out but sticking to shady spots is what photographers love anyways! We are looking forward to their November wedding this year.

July Wedding at Woodend Sanctuary

We'll be honest - this past Sunday was one of THE muggiest weddings but everyone survived, thrived, and we love that you can't tell how much everyone was sweating in the photos lol. All worth the photos with the beautiful outdoor setting that Woodend offers. Congratulations to Ally and Zack!!

Maternity Session

Loved seeing our past wedding clients (2018) in their new chapter of life! Rula and Abdul will be welcoming a baby girl in September.

Manassas Battlefield Engagement

This is always one of our go-to portrait session locations. The open fields are perfect for photos. Katie and Brad were simply effortless to work with and I had a great time getting to know them a little until their big day in one year!

Garden Engagement

Alycia and Luke are getting married next February so they wanted a vibrant, lush backdrop for the engagement session at least! I think this was the perfect spot.

Family Sessions Galore

The past couple weeks have been FULL of precious family and newborn sessions! ‘Tis the season. I loved capturing these moments in time for these families (most of which are regular clients).

The Luck of the Irish

There is no doubt that Maura and Nathan had a rainbow come out just for them at yesterday’s wedding. During our few minutes of post-storm sunset portraits, Maura pointed over our shoulders and squealed with delight: “RAINBOW!”. I truly think it was a congratulatory visit from Nathan’s parents, and a nod to Maura’s Irish heritage.

Engagement session at Morven Park

Rachel, Blake, and DUKE! What a sweet dog. We all had such a great time walking around Morven Park in Leesburg on a perfect evening last week. Rachel and Blake are getting married in Bluemont later this year and we are looking forward to doing Photo + Video for their big day.

Rainy May Wedding

Let’s be honest, Saturday’s weather was brutal! It was frigid, very windy, and rain spat down every minute we were there. But we always tell our brides not to worry too much - because look how magical the photos still turn out! And we love a good excuse to break out the adorable clear umbrellas. This was our first time finally working at The Barn at Willowbrook and it did not disappoint! It’s a family-owned and operated venue in Loudoun county’s wine country and it was perfect in every way. Congratulations to this amazing couple - Sydney and Andrew. The rain didn’t dampen their spirits one bit, and we loved working with them!!
